SEO for Quality Carpet Care

Last month Kevin Whightman, owner of Quality Carpet Care, contacted Gossamer concerning the lack of search engine rankings for his new website qualitycarpetcaretahoe.com. In particular, Kevin wondered why his website could not be found under Google’s local search. Kevin had noticed that my website, released in July, was coming up often for his searches for expertise in the area. It was important to Kevin that he hire someone familiar with the Lake Tahoe area. After several phone conversations Kevin agreed to meet with me. After our meeting Kevin agreed to purchase Gossamer’s WordPress SEO Package.

Gossamer quickly jumped into action. The first order of business was to create a baseline SEO report for over a dozen keyword phrases important to his carpet cleaning business. The report confirmed that Kevin’s website only had around 30 listings spread out amongst 2 dozen search engines. Armed with this information Gossamer then went to work optimizing the internal structure of Kevin’s website. Particular attention was devoted to his home page, the most important page in his website.

Gossamer also provided guidance on how to write and compose the posts on Kevin’s website.

Less than two weeks later another SEO report was generated which revealed 273 new listings! Kevin’s website was also coming up on Google’s local search results. When informed of the initial results Kevin exclaimed -

Awesome – thank you.

Another report was generated this week and revealed a total of 396 listings. These results were obtained during the first month! Gossamer continues to work with Kevin to further optimize his website for his Lake Tahoe Carpet Cleaning business.

While Gossamer cannot guarantee these results for everyone, Gossamer remains one of the formost authorities on SEO in the Lake Tahoe area. If you need help with optimizing your website, then please give us a call.

Lake Tahoe Catering Wizard Updates Website

Mountain Magic Catering, one of Lake Tahoe’s premier catering companies and Gossamer Web Design combined talents to give The Wizard’s website a makeover. Gossamer designed the original website a decade ago and while the website proved extremely popular, the technology used was showing signs of wear and tear.

The first step in upgrading any website is to come up with an appropriate theme. Dozens of themes were reviewed before the selection was narrowed to two themes, then one. We wanted a theme that was simple, yet elegant, and that included a splash of flash to spice things up.

One of the larger challenges faced when redesigning a website is predicting what effect the redesign will have on the search engine rankings. Quite often new designs are not received well by the search engines for a variety of reasons, so a great deal of effort was devoted to the new structure of the website. Current page rankings were analyzed along with how to organize the new website with the keywords we wanted to target prior to upgrading each page of the new website.

Each page was then carefully crafted in order to optimize the page along with our keyword selection goals. While I fully expected a temporary drop in rankings since we were both changing the IP address of the website and completely redesigning the website; Gossamer and Mountain Magic Catering were pleased when we found out that rather than see a drop in our rankings, we actually saw an increase in the number of and rankings for the majority of our targeted keywords.

The biggest surprise came when Peter revealed that he had been saving up new photos for the last two years and submitted some 700 new photos for the website. The Wizard’s new website now has over a dozen new photo galleries. These galleries are an ideal way to let future customers see what a magically designed catering event looks like.

During the several month process redesigning the website, I bombarded Peter with a ton of technical details. Peter took them all in stride, indictative of his uncanny ability to take in and organize the thousands of details each and every catering event demands.

Your work to date with my content is cutting edge… – Peter

Along with the transfer of Peter’s website to our server was a transfer of Peter’s email service. Peter had been complaining of excessive amounts of SPAM with his previous ISP and as I had boasted, Peter’s SPAM was dramatically reduced.

My Spam is way down/very nice.. – Peter

Gossamer has been designing ‘Websites that Work‘ in the Lake Tahoe area since 1996 and this year is celebrating fifteen years of service; which makes us one of the oldest web design companies in the Tahoe Basin.

Sigma Engineering goes 2.0 with Gossamer

Sigma Engineering Services, a structural design and analysis services company specializing in the area of stress and dynamic structural analysis, has chosen Gossamer Web Design to design and host their new website.

Sigma Engineering owner Steve Spencer wanted a website that was also capable of serving several back-office functions he required to provide more efficient document support for his clients. Each of his clients would need a private, confidential support section and Steve wanted to populate his new website himself. Steve also needed to easily upload and share thousands of documents, not to mention the ability to search through them.

Gossamer recommended WordPress. What? Isn’t WordPress just for bloggers?

WordPress is much, much more. It is a Content Management System (CMS) capable, with the help of a plugin or two, of providing Sigma Engineering Services with a low cost solution meeting all of his requirements.

After Steve selected a template Gossamer quickly configured Steve’s new website per his requirements. After a brief learning curve Steve was able to begin to fill in the content of his website.

I did an upload and it works well…pretty easy to do. Thanks for putting it all together…it looks good and is working well.

Steve

Gossamer Releases Full Flash Design

During the first quarter of 2009, Gossamer worked closely with Clark Builders, Inc. out of Gardnerville, NV to release their website designed entirely in Flash.

Dennis and Nancy Clark have been building homes in Nevada and California since 1987. Their new website pulls together much of their previous advertising efforts and then some.

Gossamer worked closely with Nancy in choosing a Flash template that was appealing and workable. Gossamer then customized the design.

I got to tell you what a great job you did on this ad. I hope it gets you some business.

Love …Bune’e:)
