Sonos Sign In With a Different Account

How to Sign Out of Sonos and Sign In With a Different Account

This procedure explains how to switch the Sonos app to a different account without performing a factory reset.
This is useful when you simply want to log into another Sonos account on your phone or tablet.

When to Use This Method

  • You want to use a different Sonos login in the app
  • You are temporarily managing multiple Sonos systems
  • You do not need to transfer ownership of the speaker
  • The device is already assigned to the correct Sonos household

What This Method Does

  • Signs the app out of one Sonos account
  • Lets you sign back in with another Sonos account
  • Does not factory reset the speaker
  • Does not transfer device ownership by itself
Important: This option changes the account logged into the app. It does not cleanly transfer a Sonos device
from one owner to another.

Step 1 — Open the Sonos App

  1. Launch the Sonos app on the phone or tablet you are using.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Open the Account section.

Step 2 — Sign Out of the Current Sonos Account

  1. Tap Sign Out.
  2. Confirm the sign-out if prompted.

Step 3 — Sign In With the Other Sonos Account

  1. Select Sign In.
  2. Enter the email address and password for the other Sonos account.
  3. Complete any verification prompts if required.

Step 4 — Verify What System You Are Controlling

  • Check that the expected Sonos system appears in the app
  • Confirm the room list is correct
  • Play audio to verify control

Limitations of This Method

  • It does not remove the speaker from the prior household
  • It does not erase the speaker’s existing setup
  • It may leave ownership and support responsibilities unclear
  • It is not the best option for a true customer handoff

Best Use Cases

  • Temporary testing
  • Managing multiple sites
  • Logging into the correct account after a mistaken sign-in
  • Verifying customer access without resetting hardware

When You Should Use the Other Method Instead

If the customer should fully own the speaker and system, use the factory-reset-and-readd method instead.
That is the correct procedure for a proper ownership handoff.

Bottom line: Signing out and signing back in only changes the app login. It does not perform a true transfer
of the Sonos device to a new owner.
